My work is a response to space and the history of an area around the exhibition site. Since 2008, following a 2-month residency with Youkobo Art Space, my practice has been concerned with developing work that uses the influence of Japanese art and architecture on British design and art. The projects to date have mostly been concerned with interior space and domestic architecture, however with more recent artistic collaborations and performance the work has started to engage the notion of how people live and engage with public spaces.

Boris Sirka
Born in Snina, Slovakia. Studied graphics and experimental art at the Technical University of Košic from 2000 to 2006. In 2003 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the studio of Michael Bielický. He gained recognition in 2003 as a finalist of the Oskár Čepan Award. Currently lives and works in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Drapery represents one of the most fundamental elements in the history of art and its use and significance goes back to ancient history when it indicated authority or title, and artistic qualities of a craftsman were judged by its quality. In this work, Sirka will use drapery to revive and give a new function to unused and long-forgotten objects. -

There are countless sounds appearing and disappearing in Zenpukuji Park. In this workshop, participants will close their eyes and learn how to listen carefully for sounds in nature. Participants will learn how to create a “sound-ear mirror”, a tool used to look into sounds. While peering into sounds using their “sound-ear mirror”, participants will be introduced to soundscapes while on a sound tour throughout the park. -

Avoiding seclusion in a house, a vista will be created which allows you to swiftly leap into the trees.
A “house” standing in the woods, and “furniture” swaying on the opposite bank of the pond. Green and urban space, the figure of a house in nature; the integrated relationship between interior and exterior will give shape to NIJIMURHYTHM in the park. -

Kaho Mizuno (profile)
Joined the Sogetsu Ikebana school in 1969, and is currently director of The Sogetsu Teachers Association. He has continued to pursue his own work while running and teaching his own class, gaining attention in the Showa Kinen Park Open-air Exhibition (Tachikawa) in which he has participated annually for the past 16 years. Participated in the flower offering ceremony at the Spring Grand Festival of Meiji Shrine. He is also active as an organizer of flower exhibitions in department stores and window displays.

Wakei Seijakucomment:
“Wakei Seijaku” (meaning harmony, respect, purity and tranquility) are words expressing the spirit of Japanese tea ceremony. “Wa” is the value of harmony in people, “kei” is respect for the character of others, “Sei” is purity both in material things but also the heart, and “jaku” means tranquility, silence, and presence of mind.
Here, a bamboo installation befitting Zenpukuji Park will come to express the meaning of “wakei seijaku”. -

Her works have received awards in the Tokyo Calligraphy Exhibition, Sankei International Calligraphy Exhibition, and Sankei Calligraphic Art Exhibition. She has won numerous other awards such as the Governor of Chiba Prize. Her activities also extend to designing logos, creating work to decorate traditional Japanese restaurant interiors, and creating brand names for Japanese sweet shops in Kyoto among others.
She also holds calligraphic art performances, tirelessly pursuing calligraphy that touches the heart.
