Sky on water’s surface
comment:
Once there was a children’s world, like a secret base in bush or forest.
In childhood, there was an illusion of a paradise within the forest.
Looking up through the trees, the sky appeared colorful and glittered like water.
This underwater world imagined through the eyes of a child will be expressed in the forest of Zempukuji Pond in a second collaboration between “child artists and adult artists".

Kubochi Blackboard (installation/ performance)
comment:
An odd-looking blackboard taking the shape of the Chinese character ”凹” (meaning “sunken”) will suddenly appear on the door of the Youkobo Art Space studio. At one instant, you may notice someone drawing a new variety of troll, or even a map of a sunken world. It will be a wondrous blackboard!

comment:
This project is to explore representations of the idea of happiness in the environment we live in. In my research I have chosen three types a structures, religious buildings, our homes and advertising. We rely on these types of buildings for guidance, comfort and safety. In combining elements from these structures are we able find any form of real happiness? In these places is there a true representation of the idea of happiness?

Happy Trail
comment:
I make a path, not straight, nor flat. This path may have already existed, or it may be one to be walked from now. Since there are no rails, danger lays at its side. This is a path of happiness I myself have carved out. Tea ceremony (the way of tea), Ikebana (the way of flowers), kendo (the way of the sword), judo (the way of self defense); There are many “paths”, but if you follow to the end you will find they connect to happiness. That is art.

Movement
comment:
Four elements are necessary in a person: wisdom, justice, courage, and moderation. This was stated by the ancient Greek philosopher Plato in his book " Gorgias", circa 400 BC. These elements are essential for people in order to help and cooperate with each other. The Kaho Mizuno Group expresses its ideas through spatial installations that connect and change shape in response to contemporary society. In the performance, wisdom is expressed as the color green, justice as white, courage as red, and moderation as blue.

Between You and We
comment:
An investigation of ideas of community and commonality created by collaborations between local people of different ages and backgrounds in a series of video workshops. Here residents take a step out from their familiar “we” and document their attempts to enter the “we” of the other. A group ranging from children to senior citizens will be joining in a series of video workshops between September and October in which they will explore their neighborhood with new eyes and attempted to connect with people they have never spoken to before. Each of them will film and edit their own video interview which reflects the simultaneous bond and distance between people living and working in the same area.
In addition to exhibition in Zempukuji park this unit will also be holding a series of workshops, along with screenings in Shinmachi Shopping Street and Momoshi Community School.
