A life-size human figure, curled up and completely covered in fabric, is installed in the pond at Zempukuji Park. Standing out on the water’s surface while attempting to conceal itself, this self-contradictory presence creates a strange dissonance in the familiar everyday landscape. Through this poignant image of a figure hiding from public view in an open space, the work draws viewers’ attention to the relationship between “seeing” and “being seen,” inviting reflection on the self and the instinct for self-preservation in society today.
