『大菩薩峠』Dai-Bosatsu-Touge‐DBT in the Forest

中里介山『大菩薩峠』を読みます。文庫で全20巻を下読みなし、練習なし、ぶっつけ本番4時間ぶっ通し。誰もいなくてもひたすら読み続け、どこに行くのか誰も知らない幕末ジェットコースター・ロード・ノベル。今年は第8巻、高尾山より始まり、静かな森からまちなかにも拡大します。

I will read Kaizan Nakazato’s epic novel Dai-Bosatsu-Touge. All twenty volumes of the paperback edition in one go—no preview, no rehearsal, just four hours of nonstop reading, live and unscripted. Even if no one is present, I will keep reading: a roller-coaster road novel set in the Bakumatsu era whose destination no one knows. This year, I take on Volume Eight, which begins at Mount Takao and expands from the quiet forest into the town.
